Enterprising PSE
On Friday 17th November, the theme of S5 PSE was relaxation. The whole class took part in making hand scrub with oats, yoghurt, honey and oranges, as well as wearing face masks. Most of the boys in the class walked around the school wearing bright green self-heating masks. In the next lesson, the class are going to paint nails.
Badges are Part of the Business
Enterprising St. Stephen’s pupils are passing on their business skills to their primary counterparts.
The secondary students learned how to create their own badges before this summer’s World Cup as part of an enterprise project – and now they are giving St. John’s Primary kids the benefit of their experience.
St. John’s is holding a St. Andrew’s Day celebration at the end of the month and the St. Stephen’s pupils have agreed to show them how to make their own saltire badges for the event.
Four pupils visited St. John’s on Tuesday afternoon to give a practical demonstration of how to use the bade-making equipment, meaning the younger children can now go into production on their own.

Blue Skies
Blue Skies Roadshow
On Wednesday 15th November 2006, I, as an Enterprise Assistant, went to the Blue Skies Roadshow up in the Odeon Quay Cinema, Glasgow. The group consisted of 11 3rd Years and 12 6th Years.
The roadshow was a multimedia presentation looking at how to become an entrepreneur. The main highlight of the event was the quiz which involved questions relating to starting up a business, and if a question was answered correctly, the prize was a voucher for popular stores including Gap and Virgin.

CAN THEY CUT IT? - St Stephen's music department has been successful in its bid to the Innovation Fund to secure funding to buy mixing decks as part of plans to produce and launch a St Stephen's Record Label. PCs, software and musical equipment including a portable PA system, have been purchased to help progress the after school project.
Pupils will be able to turn their hands to song writing and, eventually, using the new equipment, record the songs to a professional standard. The team will also be equipped to record live performances including school concerts.
Once pupils have recorded and mastered their songs, CDs will be produced for sale at school events and perhaps even through local retailers. This will allow them to independently sustain and expand the record label, possibly releasing CDs in a variety of music genres.

A news bulletin was prepared with pupils assigned different roles.
