ST FRANCIS' PRIMARY SCHOOL
Crazy Hair Day
On Friday 16th February, pupils and staff from St.Francis took part in a “Crazy Hair Day” to raise funds for UNICEF. It was a most enjoyable and very interesting day with some quite imaginative hairstyles. We are sure there will be a few styles being copied for the Cat-walks of Paris!
A total of £300 was raised – a great achievement for everyone!
St Stephen's Enterprise Centre
A group of our Primary 6 children from St Francis visited the Enterprise Centre at St Stephen’s and took part in a “Learning Game” called “Can Do Will Do”.
This is what they thought about it.
“I liked the part of the day where we got relaxing time. We got peaceful music and got to put our heads down.”
Erin Campbell
“I liked St Stephens because we had such fun at the learning game.”
Alan McFadyen
“I liked the maze the best because I liked the questions.”
John Kean
“I liked the relaxation nap.”
Shanice Shealy
“I liked the bit best when you had to get through the maze with the quiz.”
Daniel McGachy
“The thing I liked the best was the game where you had to put the cards in the right place because you got to swap tables and meet people from other schools.”
Kieran Dougan
“I liked the relaxing, because it made me smarter and my brain was processing information”
Danni Mcpherson
“I liked the bit were we had to look at a picture and rush back to our seats and draw it. I liked it because it was fun and exercises the memory.”
Connor Johnson
“I liked the start of the enterprise because you had to draw a picture.”

November 2006
It's been a very busy time in St.Francis recently. We've all been involved in the preparation for the School Fete and a lot of us have made things to sell at it during our Supported Studies Activities. Our fete was on Saturday the 25th November and it was opened by Willie McStay who is now coaching the Celtic Youth Team and Santa also popped in for a little while.
We took part in Radio Clyde's "Shush For Kids" and raised around £320 for this by keeping quiet. (A very hard thing for a lot of us to do!)
The Rotary Club of Inverclyde visited our school to collect the boxes we had filled for Eastern European Countries. This means some of the people there will have the chance of getting a Christmas present this year. Over 160 boxes were collected and a total of £210 was presented to the Rotary Club for this appeal.
We are about to have a Talent Show to celebrate St.Andrew's Day and this has been organised by P.7 and is for charity. (Look out the X Factor!)
P.7 also organise a "Christmas Shop" which opens on the 4th December and which sells a lot of little gifts, many of them which are made in school, for special presents.
Our annual school calendar is now ready with all of our pictures in it according to our birthday months. At £1.20 it's a real bargain as it contains all the holidays dates and all the important events which are happening throughout this coming year. Everyone is involved in it.
A final word of congratulations to our chess team. Six of our P.7 pupils took part in an Inverclyde tournament and won the shield. They won 27 out of the 30 games they played. Well done to them!
