SLAEMUIR PRIMARY SCHOOL

Its Slaemuir Showtime

We're all practicing very hard at the moment for our school show – or should I say shows?  Yes, there’s two of them! In April our Pr1-3s will perform an Eco themed show called “The Litter Muncher” and then after the Easter holidays our Pr4-7 children will perform a PSD themed show called “The Giant Slayer”. He auditions were very successful and the art and drama groups are busy, busy, busy – meeting every Thursday. So keep your eyes and ears open and come and watch us in action. If you enjoy singing then this is definitely for you!

Festival

This year we entered three country dancing teams into the festival. They had an absolute ball and did very well, so congratulations to all involved. We had a chance to watch them at our Scottish Assembly last week when the class winners of our annual Scottish poetry competition recited their pieces. The mums and dads who attended had a morning to remember.

Showcase and Trading Zone

Again this year we will participate in the Enterprising Inverclyde Showcase in Greenock Town Hall. To follow from last years “Fair-Trade” showcase we have decided to concentrate on “Global Warming” – a topic that has been in the news a lot recently. We will have on display much of our Pr7 research and project work as well as offering any interested visitors one of our home made pamphlets detailing the importance of Global Warming awareness and ways to help prevent it. Please come and have a chat with us on the day.

Charity Support

This year we have already had quite a few class assemblies. Each class chooses a charity to support and we send off our donations. So far we’ve helped:

·          Pr7a – Sammy’s School – A small African charity (Sammy popped in to visit us when he was visiting Scotland recently)

·          Pr4 – NCH Scotland

·          Pr3 – Hope and Homes for children

·          Pr6 – Children in Need
