MOORFOOT PRIMARY SCHOOL
Primary 5/4 Enterprise Project
At the beginning of the school year primary 5/4 decided to set up their own enterprise company for the school year. They arrive at the name of the company by each child coming up with a name and the names were put to a class vote. Coronica, by Hazel was the outright winner.
Company positions and duties were looked at before children put themselves forward for positions. Positions were filled by assessing peoples’ skills, strengths and suitability to post. The managing director being appointed soon got the company logo underway to establish a visible sign of the companys’ existence. The use of the feather in the logo is a result of studies of the North American Indian topic which we were doing at the time.
Meetings were held to brainstorm the direction of our first project. A 2007 calendar was the agreed project. As time was marching on, the help of a local printer with the ability to produce a low cost small volume calendar at short notice was secured.
With the help of funding from Determined to Succeed to kick start production, Coronica was up and running with their first project, selling calendars in time for Christmas.
The children have used many skills, learned a great deal about company roles and responsibilities in this project and had great fun. Coronica looks forward to its next project.
