CLUNE PARK PRIMARY SCHOOL
SHOWING INITIATIVE
Demonstrating the concept of Enterprise is nothing new to pupils at Clune Park Primary School . They are busy throughout the year with a wide variety of initiatives from a plant sale and coffee morning to their successful Christmas Fayre, where primary seven worked alongside pupils from Port Glasgow High School to produce and market items for sale.
Clune Park 's Christmas post delivery service, which included making and selling stamps as well as sorting and delivering, was another great festive success. And they are well and truly in business with Pencil Point, where they market items like pencils and rubbers.
The art of retail is experienced through running the tuck shop. Another skill is managing systems through organising rotas for a variety of school duties, such as playground monitors and tray monitors in the dining hall. In fact, most initiatives take place without too much help from staff and plans for Enterprise work continues apace in the months ahead.
Now with the help of the Determined to Succeed Innovation Fund, Clune Park is planning to expand enterprising activities. On the agenda is a regular newsletter produced by pupils to help highlight their achievements and a Clune Park News programme, where current affairs will be discussed and information communicated on the work of the Pupil Council and Health Group. A digital video camera, whiteboard and laptop with CD writer, will help the school bring these new ideas to fruition.
