ARDGOWAN PRIMARY SCHOOL

Christmas in Ardgowan

Primary 1s and P2s performed a fabulous 'pantivity' called Dr Whooch. The doctor landed in a real life size tardis (With Greenock Polis on the sign!) Each child in the infant department time travelled in costume and song. Over 450 parents and friends attended and calendars of the children in costume made £423. Programmes which the children made also brought in £286.79p in donations.  We also have a wonderful DVD of the panto which was partly funded by the calendar donations. Mrs Heather Aitchison (P2 teacher) wrote the music and words for every song and wrote the script too.  What a girl!

P3s are performed  'Tarfa and the trolls' for their parents on 19th and 20th Dec. Shortbread and our other National Drink were served to parents after the performance.  Pupls made the masks and hats for the performance, wrote invitations and served the refreshments!

P4, 5  and 6 pupils performed carols to their respective parents on 19th and 20th December - a busy week for parents!

P6(2) have interviewed Mr Baxter from the Greenock Telegraph and have written a newspaper for this term with interesting articles, quizzes, competitions etc.

P7 Dance and Class parties all week have added to the general mayhem!  -

......Roll on January!

Enterprising Ardgowan

P1 and P2 classes are busy rehearsing for their annual Xmas nativity play.  This year we are putting on a 'pantonivity' written and produced by our own Mrs Heather Aitchison.  Pupils will not only be performing but will be making invitations, posters and calendars. - Ho...Ho...Ho!

P3  classes are putting on a performance of Torfa and the Troll. Parents have been invited for a lovely afternoon of drama and dance.....and xmas pies and irn bru!

P4 classes  have been involved in a 'skipathon' in conjunction with active schools.  The pupils have raised a total of £972.10p.  This money has to be split between Yorkhill and Ardgowan Hospice - voted and chosen by pupils and parents.  This initiative has raised fitness levels and provided a lot of fun!

P5 classes have read 6 books in 6 weeks and asked for sponsorship from family and friends. This has nurtured their reading skills and raised money at the same time for two very worthwhile charities - Roald Dahl Day and Clic Sargent.  Letters of thanks have been written, book reviews completed and sponsorship money collected.  There is to be a party on 20th November, organised by staff, as a 'thank you' to pupils for all their hard work and children have to come dressed as a character from their favourite story.  The total sum raised will be announced at the party!

P7 classes  are   organising a Children in Need event on Friday 17th November . Staff and whole school have to turn up on Friday morning in their wackiest/silliest pyjamas. Children this week can buy Pudsey Bear Badges (made by P7s) and  Guess the bear's Birthday.  On Friday there will be baking stalls, games, face painting and nail bar - all manned by P7 pupils.  Last year we raised in excess of £1,010- hopefully we shall do even better this year!  A fitting end to Enterprise week! Lots of photos will be available soon!

As you can see from the above - we are very busy being enterprising in Ardgowan!

Hot off the press - future whole school event:- Ardgowan Art Show to be held in 3rd term
